This fall, the City of Snoqualmie’s Stormwater and Urban Forestry Division launched the first phase of a project that will bring over 300 new street and park trees to downtown Snoqualmie by spring 2025.
Crews recently began planting new street trees along Schusman Ave SE, near the Mount Si High School stadium, with additional trees set to be planted this fall on Falls Ave, Alpha, Delta, Gamma Streets, and Euclid Ave.
The project is aimed at ensuring equitable access to the benefits trees offer, such as improved stormwater management, enhanced air quality, and much-needed shade during summer months.
Several key factors were considered when selecting the species and locations for the new trees, including their compatibility with overhead and underground utilities, preserving views of Mount Si, their history of success in Snoqualmie, and resilience to current and future climate conditions.
A community meeting was held at Riverview Park on September 19, 2024, to inform residents about the fall tree plantings.
The tree planting effort is funded by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry Program. Plantings will continue into spring 2025, culminating in a community-wide Arbor Day planting event at Centennial Fields in April.

This is VERY exciting!
One person more than any other is responsible for Snoqualmie’s commitment to street trees. That is Nancy Tucker, Planning Director during the Snoqualmie Ridge planning days. Nancy advocated for street trees everywhere in the City. Thank you, Nancy!
