~Guest Post by Mary Horabik Northwest Railway Museum
The Northwest Railway Museum is excited to participate in two programs this year, which will allow more families to experience the Railway History Campus.
Most folks in the valley have seen the Snoqualmie Depot, and even more have stepped inside the gift shop or walked around the train displays. How many have visited the Train Shed Exhibit Hall? The Train Shed at the Railway History Campus is on Stone Quarry Road and is open Wednesday through Monday, 11:00-4:00. From now until June 2025, when families come to the Train Shed, there are two wonderful ways to participate in ticket discounts.
- All Snoqualmie Valley School District (SVSD) students get in for free with proof of SVSD identification and with a paying adult. Guests of all ages can find new child-friendly interpretation signs, several interactive stations (build a log cabin and draw a train track, to name a few), and participate in a scavenger hunt in the exhibits. As we head into the Fall and Christmas seasons, the Train Shed decorations are always worth seeing.
- Families of veterans get an admissions deal through the partnership between the Northwest Railway Museum and the American Legion Post No. 79. With a Military ID, children under 18 get in free with a paying adult.
Even after these special admission deals are over, the Northwest Railway Museum is a part of the Museums for All Program. The Museums for All Program allows up to four people with proof of EBT/SNAP benefits and identification to enter the Train Shed for free. See what other museums participate at Museums for All (museums4all.org).
Another great option is to reserve museum passes online through the King County Library System. Once the pass is checked out, it admits up to two adults and two children (ages 2-12) for free. Children younger than age 2 are always free, so no pass is required. A museum pass includes free entry to the Railway History Campus and Historic Snoqualmie Depot locations. Special events and weekly train rides (such as Ride The Rails) are not included.
At this time, tickets for Snoqualmie Valley School District, American Legion, and the Museums for All program can only be purchased in person at the Train Shed. These tickets do not include special events like Santa Train or regular weekend train rides. King County Library passes can only be reserved on the KCLS website.
The Snoqualmie Depot and its grounds are free to visit and open seven days a week from 10:00 to 5:00.
