The North Bend Theatre is proud to present a special screening of To Kill a Wolf, the haunting debut feature by rising director Kelsey Taylor from Cashmere, Washington.
Set deep in the misty wilds of the Pacific Northwest, this modern reframing of Little Red Riding Hood follows a reclusive woodsman and a teenage runaway as they chart a quiet, perilous course to a destination where their fates collide.
Describing the film, Beth Burrows, owner of the North Bend Theatre, said, “What is it about the forests in the Pacific Northwest that brings out the best in filmmakers. You can see it Twin Peaks. You can feel in To Kill a Wolf. There is something in the mist, silence, and shadows that makes them the perfect stage for gripping stories. And To Kill a Wolf is exactly that. From the first frame to the last, this film holds you tightly. Fortunately, you’re in good hands. Director Kelsey Taylor guides you with care every step of the way.”
Kelsey Taylor will join in person for a Q&A session after the film. Known for her breakout sci-fi short Alien: Specimen, Taylor approaches this story with a drive to uncover empathy in the darkest corners. “My goal is to understand the incomprehensible, To find compassion where it’s least expected. This story is an amalgamation of many people’s truth, not just my own.”
With a 9.1 IMDb rating and a trail of festival accolades, To Kill a Wolf has captivated audiences. Critics have praised its “visually stunning” cinematography and “authentic performances” that linger long after the credits roll.
The film will screen at the North Bend Theatre on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7, at 7 pm. On Saturday, please join the Theatre for a live Q&A with director Kelsey Taylor and cinematographer Adam Lee.
