Would you know what to do in the case of a natural disaster? Well, here’s a chance to be trained by the pros – just in case.
The cities of Snoqualmie and North Bend are offering citizens a change to take part in the FEMA-certified Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program.
The course starts on Saturday, March 19th, at the Snoqualmie Fire Station, 37600 SE Snoqualmie Pkwy. It’s a chance to trained on how to save lives, protect property,and operate safely in post-disaster environments.
Classes are taught by a partnership between the Snoqualmie Fire Department, Eastside Fire & Rescue and community volunteers. Learn How to Help Your Family and Neighbors in a Crisis
- Saturday, March 19th, 9AM – 3 PM
- Saturday, March 26th, 9AM – 3PM
- Saturday, April 9th, 9AM – 3PM
- Saturday, April 16th, 9AM – 3PM (drill)
Participants will have the opportunity to learn techniques in fire suppression, search and rescue, disaster psychology, and disaster medical operations, including triage techniques, patient assessment, and treating life-threatening injuries. The course concludes with a disaster simulation and drill.
The course fee is $25 per person and is fully refundable upon completion of all classes, and includes equipment, a student manual, and CERT kit (Field Operation Guide, hardhat, safety vest, backpack, goggles, gloves, flashlight, whistle, triage tape, and hand-sanitizing gel).
