[Information provided by the City of North Bend]
On Tuesday, October 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the City of North Bend and project partner Related NW will hold an open house at the North Bend Library to discuss the 230 Main Affordable Housing Project.
As North Bend works to provide a range of housing options for local schoolteachers, retail workers, seniors, and veterans, attendees can meet project representatives, view plans for the 40-unit development, learn about workforce housing needs, and ask questions.
The North Bend City Council approved the purchase and sale of a 0.4-acre parcel at 230 Main Avenue North in November 2023, designating it for affordable workforce housing and funding it with REET 2 revenues reserved exclusively for this purpose under RCW 82.46.035.
Project goals include long-term affordability for workers earning no more than 60 percent of the King County median income, serving as a model for innovative affordable housing, demonstrating the City’s commitment to the Economic Development and Housing Action Plan elements of the Comprehensive Plan, and using creativity and innovation to establish the project.
The City issued a Request for Proposals in June 2023 and selected Related NW. In April 2025, the parties entered an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement to begin work on a proposed Disposition and Development Agreement.
A Public Hearing on the proposed DDA will be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 6:30 p.m. at North Bend City Hall, where community members can learn more about the agreement, ask questions, and provide public comment.
The DDA is intended to ensure City financial support and approve code deviations identified by the applicant as needed to advance the project.
