Police Service Switch: Online Survey to Help Snoqualmie Police Understand North Bend Citizen Perceptions
In less than two months, on March 14, 2014, the Snoqualmie Police Department will start providing full police services within the North Bend city limits. The King County Sheriffs Office will continue service in unincorporated areas of the Snoqualmie Valley.
The City of Snoqualmie says it is looking forward partnering with North Bend and providing police service, as well as its police department getting to know the North Bend residents and businesses it will soon serve.
The City of North Bend is encouraging residents and business owners to take a confidential online survey designed to provide a better understanding of community perceptions regarding public safety, crime and police services.
The results of this survey will allow the Snoqualmie Police Department and city administrators to determine how to best serve North Bend citizens’ needs.
Residents can complete the online survey HERE. The survey deadline is January 27, 2014.

Public Safety Meeting – Topic: Registered Sex Offenders
North Bend will hold a Community Public Safety Meeting today, Thursday, January 16th from 6PM – 8PM at the Mt. Si Senior Center, 411 Main Avenue South.
This latest public safety meeting will discuss the topic of Registered Sex Offenders (RSO). The state’s Registered Sex Offender program is a mandated system to balance the rights of both convicted offenders and the public. The topic is sensitive and often debated as to the effectiveness, limitations, dangers and successes.
The guest speaker is veteran King County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jessica Santos, a veteran detective who helps investigate and monitor registered sex offenders in the Snoqualmie Valley area.
Santos will speak about the RSO program, laws pertaining to RSOs, the rights and restrictions of offenders, and the process and availability of public information and notifications. Residents will also have the opportunity to ask questions relating to this topic, other questions that have come up in past meetings or police related subjects.
One North Bend parent praised Detective Santos, saying the detective was very helpful last year when she had questions regarding a sex offender who registered in North Bend. The parent said, “She [Santos] is great at offering advice on what to say to your kids to help keep them safe.”
While the discussion language will be professional and appropriate, the City of North Bend says the topic may be unsuitable for young children.
Tonight’s meeting is open to all, regardless of where they reside, is free and no registration is needed.
