New Tradition: Tanner Jeans Bike Rodeo teams up with National Night Out, August 1st

This year the 13th annual Tanner Jeans Memorial Bicycle Safety Rodeo will team up with National Night Out for an evening of safety and fun hosted by the Snoqualmie Police Department and the Tanner Jeans Memorial Foundation.

Tanner Jeans

The bicycle safety rodeo is in memory of 7-year-old Tanner Jeans, who perished after being involved in a vehicle-bike collision on a quiet Snoqualmie street in June 2004. Over the years it has become the biggest bike safety event in the Pacific Northwest.

The event – designed for kids ages 3-14 – strives to keep every child safe through bicycle education, including an interactive bike obstacle course. Parents are encouraged to bring kids’ bikes and helmets, which will also be inspected by experts.

National Night Out is a nationwide initiative designed to bring communities together to create safer, better places to live.

The combined event takes place August 1st at Cascade View Elementary School, 35018 SE Ridge Street. The fun runs form 5PM – 9PM.

The Snoqualmie Police Department says the event is a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors and the officers who serve the community.  Come hungry – dinner will be provided.
