At its January 12, 2026, City Council meeting, Snoqualmie formally introduced its new elected leadership and outlined the City’s direction for the year ahead.
During the meeting, Mayor James Mayhew and Councilmember Dan Murphy were sworn into office, and the Council selected Jo Johnson to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Council committees were also reorganized as part of the annual process to align with the City’s priorities.
For residents, the transition marks a new phase in how the City approaches decision-making, service delivery, and regional cooperation. City leaders highlighted goals that include strengthening partnerships with neighboring communities, improving transparency and accountability, maintaining public safety, and managing public resources responsibly.
Mayor Mayhew shared that his early actions have focused on collaboration beyond city limits. He has attended a Snoqualmie Tribal Council meeting, participated in a North Bend City Council meeting, and spoken with King County Councilmember Sarah Perry.
Reflecting that same spirit of partnership, North Bend Mayor Mary Miller attended the Snoqualmie City Council meeting to thank Mayor Mayhew for his outreach, reaffirm North Bend’s commitment to collaboration, and express optimism for the future.
Mayor Mayhew previously served on the Snoqualmie City Council from 2017 to 2023. Although he took his initial oath of office in November, Monday’s meeting marked the ceremonial start of his term as mayor.
Councilmember Dan Murphy was sworn in to serve in Position 1. Murphy brings experience from the Snoqualmie Planning Commission, where he worked on land-use and development issues affecting neighborhoods, traffic, and the City’s long-term growth.
In the months ahead, the Mayor and City Council will consider decisions related to City services, budgeting, and overall quality of life. Residents can follow these discussions by attending City Council meetings in person or watching online.
City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
