New Beacon Crosswalks Set to Enhance Safety in North Bend

North Bend is introducing rapid flashing beacon crosswalks this fall to improve pedestrian safety and visibility at key intersections. These beacons warn drivers to slow down and stop, ensuring safer crossings for residents and trail users.

The new rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) offer bright, attention-grabbing signals, giving drivers more time to notice and stop for pedestrians.

Crosswalk Project Timeline:

  • October 28: Installation begins at the intersection of Ballarat Avenue N and the Snoqualmie Valley Trail
  • October 31: A new beacon crosswalk will be installed at the intersection of Mt. Si Road and the Snoqualmie Valley Trail
  • November 4: The existing flashing crosswalk at E North Bend Way and SE Orchard Drive will be replaced with an RRFB

These crosswalk improvements aim to increase safety for residents and Snoqualmie Valley Trail users while strengthening connections between Si View Park and downtown North Bend.

Drivers should expect occasional road closures near the construction zones, though most work will involve only shoulder closures.
