Visitors and residents may notice a fresh look along the streets of both Snoqualmie and North Bend this summer as new banner projects debut in each community.
In Snoqualmie, the Snoqualmie Arts Commission recently unveiled a new series of pole banners featuring the word “welcome” in 10 languages: Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Irish, French, Italian, Japanese, Persian, Spanish, and Welsh. The banners are now displayed on light poles throughout the Downtown District along Railroad Avenue and Falls Avenue, and in the Ridge District along Center Boulevard.

The Snoqualmie Arts Commission developed the concept and design in recognition of the international soccer matches taking place in nearby Seattle. Rather than focusing on a specific event, the banners were designed to be evergreen and will become a permanent part of the city’s rotating banner displays.
According to the city, the banners reflect Snoqualmie’s commitment to welcoming visitors from around the world year-round.
The Snoqualmie Arts Commission is made up of local residents and works to enrich the cultural lives of residents and visitors by placing art in public spaces and increasing access to the arts.
Meanwhile, in North Bend, a new set of vertical street banners is being installed throughout the downtown core through a partnership between the North Bend Downtown Foundation and the City of North Bend.
Designed to reflect the beauty, adventure, and community spirit of North Bend, the banners will continue to be installed over the coming weeks. The project was produced with assistance from Imageworks Northwest.

While the two projects have different themes, both are intended to enhance public spaces and create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

These banners are beautiful and serve to remind us that we are all guests here of this wonderful valley. We who make this our home can remember that we once were here for the first time, and by providing these signs through the work of our city governments, we are making our newest guests feel welcomed and informed.
