Griffin Guinn, MSHS Wildcat 10th grader, is making history for his school; he has qualified for Districts in both Swimming and Diving.
This is a very rare achievement for an athlete to achieve a district swimming time and a district diving score. Both qualifying scores and times are very difficult to obtain, and Districts are the last stop before qualifying for state.
In diving, they only take the top 12 divers for 4A. This was Griffin’s first year trying dive, and he helped score valuable points throughout the season for the Wildcats by swimming and diving Varsity.
His best performance for swim and dive was at Kingco Champs, where he earned his spots at Districts. He will swim the 200 freestyle on Friday at Mary Wayte Pool and dive at districts on Saturday at Juanita Pool.
Swim and Dive Coach Valerie Berglund says, “Griffin joined Dive this season knowing a little bit of the fundamentals of the sport; he came to every single practice and would do a dive until he was able to master it enough to compete. His work ethic, can-do attitude, and determination made him a great example and inspiration to his teammates and coaches.”
Good Luck, Griffin and Wildcats!
