The Mount Si Jazz Band touched down in New York City Wednesday, May 7, 2014, ready to compete in the 2014 Essentially Ellington Jazz Band competition. They were one of 15 high school jazz bands selected for the prestigious national competition.
Friday, May 9th, Snoqualmie Valley residents can watch their hometown jazz band streaming live from Jazz at Lincoln Center and playing on the BIG screen of the North Bend Theatre, 125 Bendigo Blvd.
The broadcast starts at 11AM. Mount Si Jazz 1 is scheduled to perform between 11:15AM-11:30AM. If you can’t make it to the theater, you can also stream the performance HERE
Nearly 100 high school jazz bands across North America entered the 2014 competition, submitting three performed recordings of selections from Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington library.
Mount Si was one of three Washington high schools making this year’s top 15, with Garfield and Roosevelt also making the prestigious list.
