Mount Si High School Volleyball Team Launches Sneaker Drive Fundraiser

Mount Si High School Volleyball Booster Club is holding an athletic shoe drive fundraiser throughout the season (starting with their home match on September 16th) to raise money for the volleyball programs.

The team will earn funds based on the quantity of gently worn, used, and new sneakers collected. GotSneakers, a social enterprise, will issue compensation funds for the collected sneakers. Anyone can help by simply donating gently worn, used, and new sneakers.

GotSneakers has developed a unique fundraising program that asks communities to reach into their closets, not their pockets! The sneaker recycling program helps keep sneakers out of landfills, which have harmful effects on our environment and helps organizations like ours raise much-needed funds.

“We are excited about our sneaker drive fundraiser,” said Mount Si Volleyball Boosters President Amy Walker. “We know that most people have extra sneakers in their closets that they would like to donate rather than throw away. By doing so, we raise money for the volleyball program and help the environment. It is a win-win for everyone!”

“It is exciting to start another season of volleyball in the valley, and the team is training hard for a great season,” said Brady King, Mount Si Head Volleyball Coach. “We are so appreciative of all the support we receive from this community; it means a ton to the program to have so many fans come out to cheer us on and to support us through events like the Sneaker Drive.”

You can donate by coming to any home match during the season and dropping your sneakers into the collection bin. The 2024 Home Match Schedule is as follows:

9/16 vs Eastlake 9/25 vs Skyline

9/30 vs Bishop Blanchet 10/2 vs Bellevue

10/14 vs North Creek 10/17 vs Lincoln

10/30 vs Lake Washington Varsity 7 pm; JV/C 5 pm

You can also donate by contacting Michael Gibbs (contact info below), who spearheads the fundraiser.
