The well-rounded, team-driven Mount Si basketball program secured a spot in the 4A State Tournament quarterfinals at the Tacoma Dome later this week with a 60-54 victory over Richland High School. The win also earned Mount Si a first round tournament bye.
The state regional game – like other recent MSHS playoff games – got postponed due to inclement weather… this time on Snoqualmie Pass as Richland was attempting to make its way to Issaquah High School for Friday’s scheduled matchup. The game was moved to Saturday afternoon, and once again, the delay didn’t seem impact Mount Si.
According to contributing writer Rhett Workman of Snoqualmie Valley Sports Journal, “The Wildcats got 16 points from Brett Williams as they held off the Bombers 60-54. Jonny Barrett added 13 as Richland’s defense put most of their efforts on shutting down star juniors Jabe Mullins and Tyler Patterson, and to an extent they did, holding the pair to a combined 21 points.”
On Thursday, February 28th at 9AM, Mount Si plays the winner of Wednesday’s loser-out matchup between Jackson and Puyallup High Schools. A win puts Mount Si plays in the semis on March 1st at 1:45PM. A loss has them playing on March 1st at 9AM in a bracket that gives the team a chance for 4th place in the tournament. See full tournament bracket HERE.

It’s been more than a decade since Mount Si basketball has advanced to play at the Tacoma Dome state tournament. They are coached by Jason Griffith, former head coach at Issaquah High School. Griffith was hired by Mount Si in 2016.
Good Luck and Go Cats!
