Final Update 5:30 PM: Westbound I-90 has completely reopened

Update 3:18 PM: One lane of Westbound I-90 east of Preston has reopened.
The rest of the road will likely remain closed until later this afternoon or early evening for WSP to investigate and tow crews to clear the area.

ORIGINAL STORY
According to the Washington State Patrol, this afternoon Monday, April 4th there has been a two-car fatal collision.
A vehicle came from the Eastbound lanes and hit another head-on in the Westbound lanes.
The driver of the car that crossed the median is sadly deceased at the scene.
The other driver has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Eastside Fire & Rescue crews and the Washington State Patrol are on scene and investigating.
All lanes are blocked, please find alternative routes

i hear a lot of encouragement to stay home if you possibly can when it snows and i hear a lot about avoiding black ice. i never hear about staying home if you possibly can when it rains. i think that is a shame.
This is sad but also preventable. With that said, this is the third accident that resulted in a death in the last 3-4 months because of hydroplaning from eastbound traffic coming into westbound traffic at the exact same location. When do you think they will put some sort of barrier up to prevent this?
I won’t even drive my charger on that stretch when it’s storming for just that reason!
