Just before 2am a semi went off the roadway Westbound I-90 near MP 43. The vehicle left the road to the right coming to rest approximately 100 feet in the ditch and trees.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver, a 40-year-old male from Idaho, suffered a medical episode and unfortunately did not survive.
The female passenger, also 40, from Colorado sustained bumps and bruises and was taken to Overlake Hospital. Neither were wearing a seatbelts.
The recovery effort to lift the semi back on to the road took several hours.
