Local Teen Pleads Guilty in Fatal North Bend Hit and Run Case

According to the King County Prosecuting Office, 19-year old Cody J. Eads of North Bend pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide (disregard for the safety of others) on Thursday, December 5, 2013.

In August, Eads was charged and arraigned in connection with the New Year’s Day hit and run death of Lucinda (Lucy) Pieczatkowski on Stone Quarry Road.

Charging documents placed Eads at a Fall City party on New Year’s Eve, where he had an argument with his girlfriend and left around 1:30AM. The documents stated cell phone data tracked his whereabouts around the time of the hit and run.

“In his guilty plea, the defendant admitted that he was texting while driving and speeding when he hit Lucinda Pieczatkowski who was walking along the side of a road,” according to the King County Prosecutor’s website.

Eads will be sentenced on January 17, 2013.  He faces 15 to 20 months in jail.  The maximum sentence he could have faced was 41 months.
