Letter | Snoqualmie Needs a Bridge-Builder in a Time of Division — For Me it’s Dan Murphy for City Council

[Letter by Josh Wilund– Snoqualmie resident. Views expressed are those of the author, not the Living Snoqualmie website. You may submit letters of support for your candidate to info@livingsnoqualmie.com.]

Snoqualmie has a very important choice to make in this election. Over the past four years, we’ve lost our police contract with North Bend, remain bogged down in debates over a pool we can’t afford, and have lost our way in communicating with residents. The police issue alone was/is avoidable and unacceptable. It’s time to course-correct — and that’s why I’m casting my vote for Dan Murphy for Position 1 on the Snoqualmie City Council.

Through his diligence on the Planning Commission and beyond, over the past year, I’ve gotten to know Dan as someone who understands what public service should be: listening first, asking tough questions, and putting people before politics. He’s also someone who actively bridges the divide between the Ridge and Historic Downtown, recognizing the promise and potential of all of Snoqualmie.  Dan understands that while our neighborhoods may look different, our priorities are shared: safe streets, vibrant businesses, and a strong sense of community.

Dan is independent. He’s unafraid of challenging assumptions or digging into the details to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. He is a champion of good governance.

He’s collaborative, ready to work with fellow councilmembers and with leaders across the Valley to tackle shared challenges like housing, transportation, and public safety.

And he’s prepared for the job. Through his professional work, Dan has helped cities solve complex problems with innovative, practical solutions. He’ll bring that same forward-looking approach to Snoqualmie—strengthening our economy, supporting local businesses, and preserving the small-town character we all cherish.

This election is about choosing leaders who listen, lead with integrity, and keep residents at the center of every decision. That’s why I’m voting for Dan Murphy— I hope you will too.
