King County data: 75 COVID cases in Snoqualmie Valley; 4 deaths, including 2 in North Bend, 1 in Snoqualmie

The King County Department of Health updated its COVID-19 Outbreak Summary page, allowing users to now track cases by zip code. The website is usually updated daily, during the late afternoon.

COVID-19 Cases in Snoqualmie Valley as of May 1st:

  • Carnation, 98014 zip code: 5 positives, population 7,000
  • Duvall, 98019 zip code: 15 positives, 1 death, population 12,000
  • Fall City, 98024 zip code: 10 positives, population 6,600
  • North Bend, zip code 98045: 23 positives, 2 deaths, 14,500 population
  • Snoqualmie, zip code 98065: 22 positives, 1 death, population 15,500

There has been three deaths reported for the above Snoqualmie Valley zip codes – one in Duvall and two in North Bend.

By comparison, in nearby Issaquah area – zip code 98027, population 30,000 – there have been 120 positives and 21 deaths. Issaquah has also had COVID cases impacting some nursing homes, which may impact the numbers.

In King County, as of May 1st, there have been 6,507 positive COVID tests (11.2% of tests). Statewide, there are 14,637 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (7.4% of tests). According to WA DOH, 824 people have died, 456 of those in King County.

Approximately 67% of cases in Washington have been in those 59-years old and younger, accounting for about 9% of COVID deaths. 34% of cases have been reported in those 60 and older, along with 91% of deaths. Of those hospitalized due to COVID-19, approximately 30% were in the ICU.

In a May 1st press conference Governor Inslee extend the statewide Stay Home, Stay Health order until May 31st and laid out a 4 phase economic reopening plan. He said the public health and the economy are mutually dependent and it was not about weighing one above the other.
