It’s that time of year. City streets twinkle with holiday lights, decorations adorn area houses and kids get excited for Winter Break.
If you need even more help getting into the holiday spirit, the City of Snoqualmie is helping out with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony this Saturday, December 7, 2013, 6:30PM at Railroad Park in downtown Snoqualmie. Oh, and the chilly weather will feel like winter, too.
The tree lights up at 6:30PM sharp. Then kids can visit with Santa in the gazebo; take a horse-drawn carriage ride; warm up with hot cocoa, apple cider and cookies; and enjoy the sounds of the Sno Valley Winds as they play traditional holiday music.
Horse-drawn carriage rides will be at two locations: Railroad Park on SE King Street and the corner of Falls Ave SE and SE River Street adjacent to Carmichael’s True Value.
Prior to and following the tree lighting, the community is invited to the Downtown Merchants Holiday Open House from 4 – 8PM. You can visit downtown stores and restaurants for complimentary treats, live music, activities for children – along with coupon specials for holiday shopping.
The Snoqualmie Arts Commission is also hosting an arts event during the Holiday Open House – inside the Mignone Building at 8036 Railroad Ave SE. In addition to featuring a variety of visual artists from the Snoqualmie Valley, the event features live entertainment, wine tastings by Sigillo Cellars (Snoqualmie’s only winery) and Blue Streak Chocolates sampling, a children’s exhibit with refreshments and a craft table.
So mark the date – Saturday, December 7th, from 4 – 8PM. It should be a fun community event to help bring on the holiday spirit.
