Hey North Bend…Want more parks, open space, less development? Town Hall set to hear feedback

Following a community fundraising effort to help the city of North Bend purchase a property adjacent EJ Roberts Park for a possible expansion – an effort that looks like it will fall short of its lofty $100,000 goal – the city is hoping to explore the idea further, and is looking to the community for feedback.

So a Town Hall Public Meeting has been set for Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 5:30PM at the Mt. Si Senior Center, 411 Main Ave S.

The City of North Bend wants to hear from its citizens regarding acquiring additional property for park, open space and trails in an effort to preserve natural resources and protect it from development.

Included in North Bend’s Community Vision is the goal of “preserving…rural character, natural beauty and small town scale.”  In an effort to do just that, the city says it:

“Would love to hear from citizens about whether or not our existing park inventory satisfies their park, open space, trail and recreational needs; whether they believe we should be seeking to acquire other land to preserve and protect our open spaces and whether citizens would support additional revenue measures to provide funding both to acquire additional land and in order to improve, develop and maintain such parks, open spaces and trails.”

Additional public comment will also be accepted before and during the City Council Meeting being held on July 18, 2017 at 7PM at Mt Si Senior Center.

Residents unable to attend either meeting or who wish to submit their comments in writing may do so by sending comments to the City Clerk at P.O. Box 896, North Bend, WA, 98045, or by email to: soppedal@northbendwa.gov.
