How to help passionate community members provide 250 Thanksgiving food baskets to local families in need

Sometimes all it takes is an idea – and some passionate people – for community spirit and generosity to shine, as evidenced by one long-standing, local Thanksgiving “Give Thanks” tradition.

This year marks the 7th year of a local grass-roots effort, one started and designed to make sure clients of the Mt. Si Food Bank have a complete Thanksgiving Dinner every year.

Organizer Jennifer Durand said last year community members filled 165 boxes – complete with all the trimmings for a Thanksgiving Dinner – and delivered them to local families in need.

This year the need has increased and the group is hoping they can fill and deliver 250 boxes.

Jennifer said she and others spearheading this Thanksgiving dinner effort are not affiliated with any group. They’re just local residents who feel passionately about helping their community.

So this Sunday, November 19th from 1PM -2:30PM, community members are invited to The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge (in the Mt. Si Room), where they can bring boxes filled with Thanksgiving meal fixings (see flier below for listed of suggested box contents). Then together they will decorate those Thanksgiving boxes in anticipation of providing them to Snoqualmie Valley families in need.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cash donations are also accepted – $40 per box. If you have any questions you can contact Jennifer at JenniferDurand@johnlscott.com.
