Hello Fall Sports Fans!!!

So I know technically it’s summer, but the fist week in August typically marks the beginning of the fall sports practice season in the Snoqualmie Valley.  If you haven’t heard from your child’s coach yet, don’t panic.  Many of the younger age groups (at least soccer) begin practices closer to the middle/end of the month.  If you have older kids and haven’t heard from their coach yet I would suggest hitting either the football or soccer link on the right.  Look for the league rep and shoot them an email.  They should be able to help you figure out what’s going on….

This soccer season marks my tenure as head coach of a U14 girls soccer team.  I have a roster with 18 teenage girls and no assistant coach.  There is a good chance I am crazy.   I was assistant coach the previous 3 years and had a lot of fun.  The girls I coached are a great bunch.  Head coaching wasn’t something I planned on doing,  but our head coach stepped down.   I  wanted to keep the team together for a last season before high school soccer comes around next year.  Many of the girls have played together since 2nd grade!

I have 4 kids of my own playing rec and high school soccer.  There is a  good chance I have too much on my plate… as my husband has warned.  The next 3 months will be a learning lesson for me.  I am going to practice streamlining my life.  I will try not wasting time on things that do not positively benefit me and my family.  I will  learn to say no to some things.  Otherwise I will get overwhelmed and too stressed…. I will learn to recognize my stress triggers and see if they can be eliminated or reduced.  I want to fully enjoy coaching this season……

I wonder if any of you have thought about the things you spend time on that may in fact be wasting your time?  In the age of mobile technology and information overload I will admit I don’t need to check email 15 times per day while surfing the web.  After all, if any emails were truly that important wouldn’t the person call me?  I think my first step will be to batch my email and check it just twice per day.   Guess I will turn off the cute noise my iphone makes when an email pushes in….. My smart phone saga begins…..  I’ll let you know how it goes.
