Quick, Heavy Snow Snarls Snoqualmie Parkway; Areas of North Bend Report 9 Inches

Heavy snow started in Snoqualmie around 8:30AM thanks to a fairly strong Puget Sound convergence zone.  As of 9:30AM the snow lightened up as evidenced by the weather radar.

A reader reported at 9AM that Snoqualmie Parkway was backed up from I-90 to Douglas Ave, saying roads were slick and snow plows couldn’t work the road with the line up of cars.  The 40 car backup required police to temporarily close the Parkway around 9:15AM.

About 2-3″ of snow fell in just under an hour on Snoqualmie Ridge.  Weather forecasters say the precipitation should be done by afternoon, but radar images show more possibly heading this way.

Areas of North Bend that were also hit with heavy snow last evening are now reporting 9″ of snow on the ground.

Tonight is expected to be cold with lows around 30, which could make for icy conditions tomorrow morning.

Take it slow.  Enjoy our winter weather now that the calendar says it’s spring.
