Hello Snoqualmie. My name is Dan Murphy, and I’m running for Position 1 on the Snoqualmie City Council to bring new energy, fresh ideas, and a more collaborative approach to local government.

My wife, Holly, and I live on the Ridge with our twin 4th-grade daughters, Gwinna and Layla, and our two dogs. Like so many families, we feel fortunate to call Snoqualmie home—drawn to its walkable streets, rich history, natural beauty, and close-knit community.

Professionally, I’m a small business owner and co-founder of a public affairs consultancy, where I help governments and companies advance new innovations in transportation and urban planning. I also serve on the Snoqualmie Planning Commission, where I’ve worked to cut red tape and support local merchants by promoting our walkable retail corridors.

I’m running because Snoqualmie needs leaders who are transparent, pragmatic, and committed to collaboration. Too many residents feel disconnected from city decisions that affect their daily lives—whether it’s rising utility costs, legal disputes with our North Bend neighbors, or uncertainty about the future of public safety. As a councilmember, I will make it a priority to listen, engage openly, and ensure critical decisions are made with and for our community.

On the Council, my top priorities will be:

  • Public Safety: Ensure our police officers and first responders have the resources they need to keep us safe.

  • Small Businesses: Keep the Historic Downtown and the Ridge vibrant year-round, while championing valley-wide tourism efforts.

  • The Pool: Support a community pool partnership with neighboring municipalities that expands swim lessons, competition opportunities, and affordable recreation for all residents.

  • Collaboration: Rebuild trust with North Bend and work across the Valley to tackle shared challenges together.

  • Transparency: Bring more openness, humility, and accountability to City Hall.

I am honored to be endorsed by a broad coalition of neighbors, business owners, planning commissioners, and others who are committed to bringing positive change to the Council. I am grateful for the endorsements of the 5th and 12th Legislative District Democrats and the King County Democrats, who recognize my record as a consistent ally for inclusivity and equity—values that reflect the character of Snoqualmie. I am also proud to have the endorsement of my daughters, who assured me I’d have their vote if they were old enough. Given their staunch commitment to ensuring I never embarrass them (“Daaaaaad STOP!”), this means a lot.

Our city is at a crossroads. We face big choices about public safety, growth, and how to spend taxpayer dollars. I will work to preserve what makes Snoqualmie special while shaping a shared vision for our future—grounded in openness, collaboration, and respect for all residents.

I would be honored to earn your support this fall. Together, we can shape a brighter future for Snoqualmie.
