Green Thanksgiving Weekend: Planting Hope at Silent Creek Forest

On November 25, 2023, from 9 am to noon, the Green Snoqualmie Partnership invites the community to a tree-planting event. The location is the corner of SE McCullough and Elderberry Ave. SE. This effort aims to restore Silent Creek Forest on Snoqualmie Ridge with native plants and shrubs.

The event is designed for all skill levels, making it ideal for beginners. The main task is straightforward: planting. Experienced forest stewards will be available to guide and assist participants. This presents a chance to step away from the holiday hustle and contribute positively to the environment.

Attendees are advised to bring a bottle of water and dress appropriately for outdoor work: clothes that can get dirty, sturdy shoes, and work gloves. Gloves and tools will be provided for those who don’t have them. Instructions on how to plant will be offered on-site.

The goal is to plant many trees and shrubs, enhancing the Silent Creek Forest. This activity offers an opportunity to take a break from holiday activities and engage in community service. The event is open to the public, suitable for all ages, and 4 out of 20 spots have been filled. Signup here.

For more information, participants can contact Evan Bills at evan@evanbills.com. Parking is available on the street near the meeting point.
