Get Ready! Lane Closures on Snoqualmie Parkway for Two-Month Improvement Project

The City of Snoqualmie says residents should be prepared for temporary, one-lane closures at two busy intersections starting March 30, 2015 and lasting through May 2015.

Road work at the intersections of Snoqualmie Parkway and Douglas Ave SE and Snoqualmie Parkway and Fairway Ave SE will occur weekly, Monday – Friday from 7AM – 5PM. Drivers should be prepared for possible delays when those temporary one-lane closures occur.

The city stated via press release that during peak morning commuting hours, all lanes will remain open until 9AM.  Occasionally there will also be work between 6PM – 10PM.  That evening work, though, will be minimal.

This new road work project includes grinding and paving of asphalt, removal and reconstruction of sidewalks, curbs, and pedestrian curb ramps to meet ADA standards; vehicle detection loop replacement; and roadway channelization to improve traffic flow.

The City of Snoqualmie Public says the intersection improvements are needed to meet current road standards and improve vehicle and pedestrian safety in these busy areas.

Drivers should expect to see marked detours and traffic management workers at both intersections.

Drivers are also urged to use SE Ridge Street and Center Blvd SE as alternate routes – and to avoid increasing traffic on smaller, neighborhood streets.

  • While they are at it, they should make a dedicated right turn lane from Douglas onto the Parkway.
