Free Encompass Parenting Series Begins Soon: A Smarter Way to Parent Young Children

Parents looking for a smarter way to parent their young children will be able to get step-by-step, in-person help, during a free, six-part (monthly) workshop series presented by Encompass at Virginia Mason Medical Center Issaquah.

The groundbreaking workshop series, developed through the Parenting Counts program of the Talaris Institute, is called “Encompass Parenting.” It presents the latest scientific research on child development in a useful, practical way. The curriculum covers the pillars of children’s social and emotional development and why these pillars are critical to children’s success in academics and in life.

The series is designed for expecting parents and those with children from newborns to age 5. The workshop leader is Kerry Beymer, who manages parenting support and education for Encompass. A parent educator for 20 years, Beymer is a certified Parenting Counts educator and trained in a variety of national, evidence-based parenting programs.

The series runs from 5:30 to 7PM, Jan. 10th, Feb. 7th, March 7th, April 4, May 2nd and June 6th, 2013, all Thursdays, at Virginia Mason Medical Center Issaquah, 100 NE Gilman Blvd, Issaquah. This popular series was first offered by Encompass at several Issaquah locations in 2011 and 2012.

The series is free with online registration at www.encompassnw.org. Parents can enroll for individual workshops or the series. Childcare is available during workshops at Adventure Kids Playcare (30 % discount), 775 NW Gilman Blvd. in Issaquah. Call (425) 391-5358 to reserve.
