FLAG Pushcart Challenge Returns to Twin Rivers January 31st — Community Event Blends Golf, Fitness, and Youth Impact Through First Tee Seattle

The FLAG Pushcart Challenge, a fast-emerging community fitness and golf event, will return for its second pilot on January 31, 2026, at Twin Rivers Golf Course. Registration is now open through First Tee Seattle, the event’s co-sponsor.

Designed as a new, high-energy format for golfers and athletes alike, the Pushcart Challenge requires participants to move through the course at a continuous jogging pace using pushcarts. The result is a unique test of endurance, strategy, and speed that reimagines what a round of golf can be.

“Pilot #1 proved something important,” said Nick Vlahovich, co-founder of FLAG (Fairway Living Advocacy Group). “Golfers are hungry for new challenges, and communities want events that bring people together for a positive cause. This challenge does both — it’s fun, it’s competitive, and it supports youth through First Tee.”

Born on a Whim — Now Becoming a Movement

The idea for the Pushcart Challenge began when Vlahovich and fellow golfer Diana Erickson arrived at Twin Rivers on a morning when the tee sheet was backed up and rain threatened to cancel their round. Instead of waiting, they decided to jog the entire course with their pushcarts — and discovered a format that felt fresh, exhilarating, and community-ready.

Pilot #1 was held in November and exceeded expectations, bringing local golfers together for a fast-paced, high-spirited competition that showcased the accessibility of Twin Rivers’ terrain for all skill levels.

 A Three-Course Vision

Twin Rivers is the first stage of a broader concept: a three-course, three-test, one-champion playoff that scales from beginner-friendly routes to more challenging championship layouts. The January pilot at Twin Rivers is the next step in proving the format’s potential.

 Co-Sponsored by First Tee Seattle

Proceeds from the event support First Tee Seattle, which uses golf as a platform to teach character, confidence, and resilience to youth across the region.
