The City of North Bend, in partnership with Eastside Fire and Rescue, has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual fireworks show, a part of the Festival at Mt Si, originally scheduled for Saturday, August 8.
Fire conditions in North Bend and throughout our state are dynamic. Heat is expected to continue and increase this weekend, which may worsen fire conditions on Saturday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in North Bend is expected to clear by Saturday; however, winds are also dynamic, and air quality could change quickly.
“On behalf of the community, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the Wyrsch family for their extraordinary generosity and commitment over the past 50 years in sponsoring our fireworks display. Their dedication has created countless cherished memories for generations of families and has become a treasured tradition that brings our community together,” said North Bend Mayor Mary Miller.
“This was a very tough decision made with careful consideration and the best interest of our community in mind,” she continued.
A Festival Weekend
While the city is saddened to miss the annual fireworks display this year, the Festival at Mt. Si is bringing the community a full lineup of fun to North Bend on Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9. Festival activities include the Downtown Music Crawl, the Grand Parade, live music and a vendor fair, traditional community contests, the Si View Hoop Shoot and the Pickleball Tournament.
City streets will remain open during the Downtown Music Crawl on Friday, August 7, from 6 p.m. to midnight. Participants will utilize sidewalks and crosswalks as they move to each venue along North Bend Way.
To accommodate the Grand Parade that will begin on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., the following street will be closed, with no through-traffic from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on August 8:
- North Bend Way, from SE Cedar Falls Way to Bendigo Boulevard
The Festival at Mt. Si will be at Si View Park, located at 440 SE Orchard Place. To accommodate the festival, the following street will be closed, with local access only and no through-traffic, from August 8, starting at 7:00 a.m. through August 9, ending at 7:00 p.m.:
- SE Orchard Drive/Healy Avenue S, from Riverside Drive to North Bend Way
The Festival at Mt. Si has been a Snoqualmie Valley tradition since 1947, and, since 1999, it has been fully funded by community donations and coordinated by a local nonprofit, the North Bend Educational and Cultural Association (NBECA).
