Do you need a flexible way to get around town or visit nearby destinations without using your personal vehicle or relying on fixed-route transit?
North Bend residents can now take advantage of King County Metro’s Community Van, a convenient and low-cost transportation option for pre-scheduled trips—whether you’re riding along or volunteering to drive.
Whether running errands, attending medical appointments, attending community events, or hiking Little Si, the Community Van is a versatile alternative. Even better? It includes a free Discover Pass for trips to Washington State Parks.
“Thanks to King County Metro and their partnership with Hopelink, the Community Van offers easy-to-access public transportation, driven by our community, for our community,” said North Bend Mayor Mary Miller as she met up with locals one day to try out the program. See how the Community Van works by watching a video of the group as they meet up and head out to hike Little Si.
Operated by King County Metro in partnership with the nonprofit Hopelink, the Community Van is based at the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce (128 W 2nd Street). Once a volunteer driver is approved, the van is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for trips up to two hours long—even on the same day.
How It Works:
- Share a ride with 2 to 11 people on trips throughout the week or weekend
- Submit a trip request form at least two business days in advance
- A Community Trip Coordinator (CTC) will help plan and schedule the ride
- Accessible vans are available—note your needs when requesting your trip
Community volunteers drive trips. Residents aged 21 and older with a valid Washington State driver’s license and at least five years of driving history can apply to be a volunteer driver here. All approved drivers receive training and ride for free when driving.
