Explore Local Government: Applications Open for North Bend’s 2025 Citizens Academy

Are you curious about how the City of North Bend operates? Interested in connecting with city leaders, staff, and like-minded residents while learning how to get involved in your community?

Applications are now open for the 2025 North Bend Citizens Academy, an engaging eight-week course offering an in-depth look at city operations. The academy will run weekly from February 3 to March 24 and culminate in a recognition event on April 1, 2025.

Participants will explore topics such as city administration and history, legal processes, public records, finance, public safety (fire and police), infrastructure, parks, and community and economic development. The program includes tours of local facilities, such as the parks, the Snoqualmie Police Department, Eastside Fire and Rescue, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

This free program is open to individuals 16 years and older, with class size limited to 20 participants. Residents within North Bend city limits will be given priority, but nearby residents are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed, and confirmation emails will be sent upon acceptance. Applicants outside city limits will receive separate notifications regarding their status.

Applications are being accepted through January 3, 2025. The application form is available on the City’s website under the Citizens Academy webpage. Completed forms can be submitted via:

  • Email: Bre Keveren, Communications Manager, at bkeveren@northbendwa.gov
  • Mail: City of North Bend, Attn. Bre Keveren, 920 SE Cedar Falls Way, North Bend, WA 98045
  • In-person: Drop-off at North Bend City Hall

I attended the North Bend Citizens Academy in the past. I found it both enjoyable and informative—a great way to connect with the community and better understand how local government operates.

Take this opportunity to engage with your city and deepen your understanding of how local government works!
