Elizabeth Hill (she/her) is a musician and visual artist who lives in the Snoqualmie Valley. She primarily plays clawhammer style on an open back banjo although she also incorporates other styles of banjo playing. Elizabeth grew up in Appalachia and loves the sound and feeling of the mountain music which she carries forward by playing traditional songs, new grass, and her own originals.
She often performs with other musicians in an intergenerational group called Elizabeth Hill & the Valley Folk. The band was lucky enough to perform at the Northwest Folklife Festival in 2024. They have also played at the BrodieNation Music Festival in Carnation, The Carnation Block Party, Redmond Pride, Woodinville Pride, Carnation Pride, March of the Vegetables in Duvall, The Grange in Duvall, The Centro Cultural Mexicano in Redmond, Duvall Days, Remlinger Brewery in Carnation, Mineral Lake Lions Den Campground, Sandblast Festival of the Arts in Duvall, Valley House Brewing Co. in Duvall, and other venues and events in Western Washington.
The band blends traditional mountain music with other musical styles. Picking old-time sounds spiced with experimentation and improvisation. Elizabeth Hill & the Valley Folk play traditional, new grass, and their own original music delivering their own brand of Americana.
