Eastside Fire & Rescue Responds to Eight Fireworks Related Incidents

Eastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) said today, July 10, 2014, that it responded to eight (8) incidents related to fireworks during the week of June 29th through July 5th, with five of those incidents occurring on the 4th of July.

 July 4th, a busy day of 40 alarms for EF&R, was made even busier with five of those alarms being fireworks related, including a house fire and a serious medical response.  North of Carnation, one person was also cited by the King County Sheriff’s Office for discharging illegal fireworks.

The eight incidents included the 4th of July Fairway Ave Snoqualmie fire, which heavily damaged the home’s roof, attic and second floor and produced minor damage at a neighboring home; one attempted arson fire where sprinklers were used in an attempt to create property damage; four grass or brush fires; one nuisance call where a smoke bomb was set off in a port-a-potty; and a medical response where a man holding a roman candle had it explode in his hand, causing him to lose two fingers and a thumb.

Locallly, one of the incidents occurred in the North Bend/Snoqualmie Valley EF&R District 38 and one was a mutual response to assist the Snoqualmie Fire Department with the large Fairway Ave house fire.
