Eastbound SR 18 Lane Closure Near Raging River Bridge on Nov. 25

A single lane of eastbound State Route 18 will close from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, to grind and smooth a transition between the roadway and the Raging River bridge surface.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will smooth the right lane first, then move traffic onto the finished lane and close the left lane for grinding. People traveling through the area should expect delays, follow instructions from signs and workers and drive cautiously through the work area.

Additional daytime lane reductions
Eastbound SR 18 will continue to be reduced to a single lane between Deep Creek and Raging River (mileposts 26 to 27) for work on a nearby slope. People traveling through the area should expect the right lane to close from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, Mondays through Fridays, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Saturdays and Sundays until mid-December.

Slope work will pause on Tuesday, Nov. 25, while the transition to the Raging River bridge is smoothed, and over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Improving traffic flow and safety
The I-90/SR 18 Interchange Improvements project built a diverging diamond interchange and widened SR 18 to two lanes in each direction between I-90 and Deep Creek to help improve traffic flow and safety through the busy corridor.

The project is expected to finish in 2026. Crews will place a top layer of asphalt and install permanent striping along the widened section of SR 18, through the diverging diamond and on the I-90 on- and off-ramps once the weather dries and warms next spring.
