Downtown Snoqualmie Residents to See Sewer Smoke Testing in March

As part of the 384th St/SE 92nd St/SE 88th St/and 378th Ave SE sewer project collectively known as South Snoqualmie Hills, the City of Snoqualmie Sewer Utility Division is conducting smoke testing in your neighborhood in March to locate problem areas within the local sewer system and connections to the City’s sewer pipes. This work will be conducted by City staff.

Notification: If your home is connected to a sewer line that will be tested, you will receive a notification on your door. We will leave a notice on your property 1-3 working days before testing occurs in your area. Field crews will also post signs on nearby streets to indicate when smoke testing is in progress.

Preparation Tips:

  • You don’t need to be home. Field crews will not enter your property except to put a notification on your door and document smoke outside.
  • Smoke is unlikely to enter your home. If you see smoke in your home during testing, call 425.888.8015 to let the field crew know so they can follow up.
  • Smoke is not harmful to humans or animals.
  • Before testing occurs, run water through any drains, toilets or showers that aren’t used regularly. The drain trap holds water, which creates a seal and prevents sewer gases from rising through the drain and into your home.

Smoke testing is a safe method to find problems in sewer lines. This efficient and cost-effective test will help us determine problems and identify illicit connections.
