Domestic Violence Situation in Wilderness Rim Ends Peacefully After SWAT Deployment

A heavy police presence, including SWAT and K9 units, responded to a home in the Wilderness Rim area of North Bend early this morning following a domestic violence incident that began late Friday night.

According to Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Rick Johnson, the incident started just before midnight with a 9-1-1 call reporting domestic violence inside a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-90 in the Issaquah area. While troopers were initially unable to locate the vehicle, dispatch traced the phone to an address in North Bend.

When troopers arrived at the residence, they reportedly heard someone being assaulted in the garage. The female victim was able to escape the home, but the suspect refused commands and barricaded himself inside, shutting the garage door behind him.

Troopers secured the area and requested assistance from the King County Sheriff’s Office. Negotiators attempted to contact the individual, but those efforts were unsuccessful. KCSO’s TAC30 SWAT team later executed a search warrant obtained by WSP detectives.

The situation was resolved without incident at approximately 8:50 a.m.

According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, they assisted WSP in the operation and deferred all investigative details to WSP Public Information Officer Trooper Rick Johnson.
