District Announces Three New Principals for upcoming School Year

After an approximate three-month process, the Snoqualmie Valley School District announced at the April 14th school board meeting that it had decided upon three strong applicants to take the principal reigns at two of its elementary schools and one middle school for the 2016-17 school year.

Superintendent Aune said the hiring process drew approximately 50 high-caliber educators wanting leadership roles in the Snoqualmie Valley School District. He enthusiastically introduced the new principals chosen by administrators and school board members at beginning of Thursday’s meeting.

Michelle Trifunovic will be the new Chief Kanim Middle School Principal. She is currently the Executive Director of Middle Schools for the Issaquah School District and the former principal of Edmonds Woodway High School. Michelle takes over for longtime Chief Kanim principal Kirk Dunckel who announced he was leaving earlier this year.

Ryan Hill will be the new Opstad Elementary School Principal.  He has served the Snoqualmie Valley School District for the past decade as a teacher and as a Technology Integration Leader and Teacher Trainer. He is the current Assistant Principal at Opstad. He will be taking over for Principal Amy Wright who will be the first principal of new Timber Ridge Elementary when it opens in September.

Stephanie Shepherd will be the new North Bend Elementary Principal.  She currently splits her time as an Assistant Principal at North Bend Elementary and Snoqualmie Elementary and was the former Early Learning Facilitator for the Renton School District. She will be taking over for Principal Jim Fraizer who will be moving to Cascade View Elementary School in September.

Congratulations!
