Over the next few weeks, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will work to improve stormwater drainage along State Route 202.
This work will focus on two areas near the 292nd Avenue Southeast and Southeast Fish Hatchery Road intersections with SR 202.
Contractor crews will coordinate lane closures to minimize effects to travelers in the area. Work is scheduled daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday, March 20, and lasting up to three weeks. This work is weather dependent and may change.
Road closures and detours
- SR 202 (MP 18.2-18.24) west of the intersection with 292nd Avenue Southeast will be reduced to one lane with flaggers alternating traffic.
- SR 202 (MP 22.63 – 22.72) east of the intersection with Southeast Fish Hatchery Road will be reduced to one lane with flaggers alternating traffic.
- A small western section of Southeast Fish Hatchery Road will be closed, with a signed detour in place.
Protecting local waters – stormwater retrofits
This project will help manage stormwater runoff from area roads by installing and improving stormwater catch basins. These improvements will help prevent environmental contaminants from reaching wetlands, streams, and rivers, helping to protect wildlife and habitat in the area.
