Via press release, City of Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson, the City Council, and city administration thanked Snoqualmie voters for approval of Proposition 1, the Public Safety Levy.
At this time, the levy is projected to pass with strong support in excess of 60%. Final results will be certified by King County Elections on November 29, 2016.
“Approval of this levy will enable us to maintain the high quality of public safety services in Snoqualmie that residents have come to expect,” said Mayor Larson. “The hiring of two additional police officers and one additional fire fighter will also improve morale in both departments since staff have increasingly had to work overtime shifts in order to respond to more frequent demands for service as our community has grown.”
“We look forward to improving the level of service the Fire Department provides to the residents, businesses, and visitors in Snoqualmie,” said Fire Chief Mark Correira. “It is our highest priority to provide the fastest and best fire and emergency medical services response possible.”
“Having officers actively patrolling Snoqualmie and responding to each 911 call for service in a 3-5 minute average is one of our highest goals as we serve the community,” said Interim Police Chief Jim Schaffer. “By hiring two additional officers to focus on investigations, our officers, sergeants, and school resource officer will be able to dedicate more time to patrolling, interacting with citizens, protecting the community.”
