City Shares December Update on Snoqualmie Community Center Expansion

As of December 2025, the long-planned Snoqualmie Community Center Expansion (CCE) project has reached key milestones, with design and permitting now complete, keeping the project on track for construction once full funding is secured. During the December 8 City Council meeting (watch the presentation), City Administrator Chambless provided a cost update and presented several affordable options aimed at reducing overall project costs.

This project – which is included in the City’s 2025-2030 Capital Improvement Plan – will expand the existing 13,000 sq. ft. facility, with a recreation pool and a 6-lane lap pool that can accommodate local competitions; additional multipurpose programming space; locker rooms and pool equipment; and office space.

Bringing a community pool to Snoqualmie has had strong community support for nearly two decades, and the project’s planned amenities reflect the City’s commitment to enhancing public health and safety, increasing recreation opportunities, supporting families, and strengthening community connections.

Surveys in 2019, 2023, and 2025 showed continued resident support for the project, and the 2025 Snoqualmie Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails (PROST) master plan identified aquatics space within the city as a needed amenity to meet public safety and community programming needs.

The Community Center Expansion project will enable 9,600 swim lessons annually and support 460 additional daily visits, on top of current usage, helping address the significant shortage of aquatics space in the upper Snoqualmie Valley. Additionally, a recent Community Center Expansion economic impact analysis determined the expanded facility will have a positive impact for Snoqualmie, including over 40 new jobs; over $5 million in business revenue; and over $2 million in labor income.

The City continues its efforts to finalize funding for the project through grant programs and advocacy in the state legislature. Currently, the City of Snoqualmie has approximately $24 million available for the project, with an additional $6 million needed to advance the current design to the construction phase. However, alternate design options have been identified that would require less funding, potentially allowing the project to move forward sooner while still meeting key community needs.
