City of Duvall Announces “Greetings from Duvall” Mural Project

The City of Duvall is excited to announce a unique opportunity for talented muralists to leave their artistic mark on the community. The City of Duvall seeks proposals from experienced artists to design and sketch a mural that encapsulates “Duvall through the Ages” within the letters spelling out “Duvall.” This mural will be prominently displayed on a residential retaining wall at the intersection of 1st Street and Virginia Street.

Mayor Amy Ockerlander expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We are excited to continue and expand our tradition of great art in Duvall. This mural project is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our rich history and engage our community in a collaborative artistic endeavor.”

Project Vision:

This mural project is envisioned as a “Greetings from Duvall” mural, with each letter of “Duvall” featuring a distinct theme reflecting the city’s history. The design should be suitable for public viewing, easy for community members of all ages to paint, and clearly convey the theme “Duvall through the Ages.” The muralist will sketch the design on a pre-painted retaining wall, and the painting will be completed during a community event, fostering local engagement and participation.

Eligibility:

This opportunity is open to artists residing in King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties in Washington.

Budget:

The selected artist(s) will receive a contract worth $8,000 for the design and sketching. The City of Duvall will cover project administration, site preparation, and materials for the community painting event.
