City Conducting Utility System Audit; Residents May See Workers at Water Meters

This summer, Snoqualmie residents may notice city workers checking connections to water meters. This work is being conducted as part of a routine audit as the City of Snoqualmie upgrades its utility billing system.

To complete the routine audit, crews will check the water and sewer connections, as well as stormwater services, at Snoqualmie homes and businesses. When finished, all collected data will be imported into the City’s new billing system.

The work, which includes checking the size of water and sewer pipes serving homes and businesses, will be conducted by City of Snoqualmie Public Works Department employees.

“We thank residents for their cooperation while we complete this audit and the upgrade of our utility billing system,” said City Administrator Mike Chambless. “The improvements will enhance efficiencies for our customers.”

  • I’d like to pass along a clarification the city sent to me. The announcement mentions that crews will check “water and sewer connections, as well as stormwater services.” I was concerned that workers would need to enter my home’s crawl space to check the sewer connection, and dig in my yard to check the stormwater connection. I emailed the Public Works Department with my concern. They replied that the crews will only check the size of the water meter, but not check the sewer or stormwater connections.

  • And, then the rates go up. The whole storm water fee is just a money maker, I’m paying $30.00 this month for it and there is no storm water. Makes me wonder how many million’s the city makes off of it.
