Monday, April 16, 2018, Snoqualmie welcomes another new business… this time in the historic downtown area. Snoqualmie Fit Body Boot Camp will open in the retail space next to the Snoqualmie Market on Railroad Ave.
The new business is the dream of Melissa Alma, who says she was inspired to open the business after losing her dad – at only 54 – to heart disease. She said when her father died a year ago, it lit a fire in her to do something to help people live healthier lives.
Melissa had already been following the founder of Fit Body Boot Camp on YouTube, watching his marketing lessons online. Then last summer she decided to take things a step farther and explored actually becoming a Fit Body Boot Camp franchise owner.
What is Fit Body Boot Camp?
Snoqualmie Fit Body Boot Camp specializes in Afterburn Workouts – a group personal training program with high energy, challenging workouts designed to burn maximum fat and tone your whole body in only 30 minutes. And those afterburn workouts also helped Melissa lose 30 pounds herself.
The workouts use a combination of (HIIT) High Intensity Interval Training and Active Rest Training, designed to burn more fat and calories than traditional workouts that are twice as long. Group training sessions are led by experienced and certified personal trainers.
Why Snoqualmie?
Melissa was drawn to the Snoqualmie Valley after working at SnoValley Coffee for six years – starting there at 19 after moving from Eastern Washington. Melissa hasn’t actually lived in the Snoqualmie Valley, but says she feels like she grew up here. In addition to working in the Valley, her grandmother lived along the Snoqualmie River, her mom and aunts are all Mount Si High School graduates and her aunt has lived in the same North Bend home for the past 30 years.
So when she noticed the retail spot next to the market was vacant, she said she knew it was meant to be.
Melissa commented, “I am so grateful to be right in the heart of everything I love.” Oh, and as a bonus she will be able to practice her love for dance right up the hill at Big Star Studios where her best friend is also her instructor.
Melissa’s goal with Fit Body Boot Camp is to reach many people and form a community within the community. She considers her team a family and they even hope to open more locations across the state.
Although there is more to being healthy than just exercising, Melissa says Fit Body is her way to help ensure other families – and especially children – don’t have to go through what she and her sister have experienced this past year since losing their father so early.
Snoqualmie Fit Body Boot Camp will also be donating 10% of their April and May proceeds to The Trail Youth to help with their work reaching and assisting homeless teens in the area.
A grand opening celebration will be held soon. To keep up with or learn more about Snoqualmie Fit Body Boot Camp, including class schedules and prices, visit their website or Facebook page. (They’re running a grand opening special noted in the flier below.)
Good Luck Melissa!
