Business Comings: NEW Driving School Coming to Snoqualmie Valley

Snoqualmie Valley parents… tired of driving your teen to Issaquah or Sammamish to take a [private] drivers education course? Then we may have some welcome news for you.

Starting in June 2015, a new Drivers Education class will be offered at Si View Community Center (North Annex), 400 SE Orchard Drive in North Bend.

Shield Driving School will be offering the summer drivers ed course through a collaboration with Si View Parks, but a familiar face will teaching the class – former SVSD bus driver and longtime Valley resident, Felicia Stone.

Felicia said after seven years behind the wheel of a Snoqualmie Valley school bus (and getting to know many SVSD students), she decided to take her career in a different direction and began training to become a Drivers Education instructor last summer.  By fall she was a fully certified instructor and was hired on with Shield right away.  She said she is very excited to offer a driving education course at home in the Valley.

The first class session begins on June 29th, running Monday – Thursday from 9AM – 11AM with 17 total classing, and wraps up on July 27th.

Felicia and Shield Driving School will also offer behind the wheel training as part of the course, with both the written knowledge and skills road tests included; taking new drivers from start to finish – something Felicia says even some of the driving schools in Issaquah can’t offer.

The course costs $529 per new driver, with different payment options and cash discounts available.  For more info or to sign up your teen visit www.shielddrivingschool.com or call 425.369.0911.

In Washington State, students must be 15 years old and registered for a Drivers Ed course or 15 1/2 years old and pass a written knowledge test, in order to obtain a learner’s driving permit.

Students should apply for their permit at least 10 days before their Drivers Ed course begins.

  • Is it a coincidence that MSHS stopped offering it thru the school, and this driving school opened? I suspect a non compete agreement was signed??? Or the school was forced to close their program???

    1. The school said they weren’t going to offer it as a class for elective credit any longer. I believe they are still offering after school and summer sessions.
