On Friday, November 29th, Valley Center Stage – located in the heart of downtown North Bend – is excited to announce the return of A Christmas Carol, a timeless story of personal redemption and social accountability written by Charles Dickens.
This heartwarming and hair-raising holiday tale for all ages follows the life of Ebenezer Scrooge, who we meet at the height of his wealth and success. Watch as the spirit world makes him reconcile who he is with where he came from and where he is destined to go.
Making his directorial debut at VCS is Tony Leininger, who studied theatre at Hanover College and worked at Children’s Theatre Company (CTC), Minneapolis as an actor, director and theatre arts educator.
“People find it easy to relate to this story,” Leininger says. “After all, who hasn’t wished they could have a fresh start from time to time? From a hopeless boy to an animated teen, and from a young enterprising person disappointed in love to a miserable old misanthrope unable to feel any, Scrooge has sunk quite low. He has some important choices to make, and he gets some very powerful and persuasive help in making better choices.”
Valley Center Stage’s production of A Christmas Carol was adapted for the stage by Brenden and Wynter Elwood. Previous directing credits at VCS for Brenden and Wynter include A Christmas Carol (2017), Night Must Fall, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland/Who Stole the Queen of Hearts’ Tarts?, and Becky’s New Car.
