As the time quickly nears for the closing date of the Snoqualmie Valley Winter Shelter on March 30, 2013, shelter organizers have been fielding concerns from many community members about what’s next for shelter patrons, and looking for a way to help ease their transition.
Winter Shelter organizers will be distributing needed items to patrons of the shelter in the next couple of days.
The following is a list compiled by River Outreach, The Snoqualmie Valley Winter Shelter’s partner in helping the homeless in the Valley:
- Sleeping bags
- Tents – especially 1-2 people size
- Tarps
- Rope
- Flash lights with extra batteries
- McDonald’s gift cards
- Socks
- Small propane bottles
Small quantities of these needed items can be dropped off at the Snoqualmie Valley Winter Shelter between the hours of 8PM-10:15PM and 6:30AM-7:15AM any day of the week. The shelter is currently being hosted by Mt. Si Lutheran church – 411 NE 8th St in North Bend.
If you have a large quantity of things to share, please contact our Community Coordinator, Trissa Barney, at svwsvolunteer@gmail.com before dropping things off as she’ll need to make arrangements to get things into off-site storage.
