Weekend Holiday Bazaar, local shopping helps build Snoqualmie Skate Park

This Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 9AM to 6PM a special Holiday Bazaar will be held at the Snoqualmie Valley YMCA, 38018 SE Ridge Street.

The Winter Wonderland Holiday Bazaar will feature many items – like homemade candles, gourmet foods, and boutique clothing, as well as a silent auction.

In addition to local gifts, the event will help raise funds for a future Skate Park planned for Snoqualmie Community Park. Vendors will be donating booth rental fees to the skate park facility, as will funds raised from the bazaar’s silent auction.

Future Skate Park

Two years ago the Snoqualmie Parks Department identified a chunk of land at Snoqualmie Community Park for the skate park conceptual 2skate park, but since city lacks the budget to fund it, grants have been pursued for its design design and construction.

The future skate park is slated for the 6,000-7,000 square foot area of grassy field located at the south end of the Community Park’s basketball court – and right across from the Snoqualmie Valley YMCA.

The park’s price tag is approximately $350,000.Last spring a $175,000 grant from the Recreation Conservation Office was secured, with another approximate $200,000 in grant applications in the works.

A community group called Snoqualmie Skatepark Collective (SSC) is also actively working on fundraising to help the skate park become a reality.

Those interested in having a booth at the  holiday bazaar may contact Jennifer Chapman at teamchapberry@gmail.com or 425-503-5833.
