Troopers Arrest Wrong-Way Driver For Suspicion Of DUI on I90

Just before 1:00 am on August 18th, 2022, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications began receiving 9-1-1 calls reporting a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-90 just west of SR 18.

Troopers responded to the area in an attempt to intercept the vehicle and get it stopped. During this time, WSP communications received a total of thirteen 9-1-1 calls updating the location of the wrong-way vehicle.

Thankfully the vehicle pulled over briefly in the gore point near exit 18 in Issaquah, still facing westbound in the eastbound lanes. Troopers intercepted the car and prevented the driver from continuing to drive.

The driver was placed into custody for suspicion of impaired driving. Open containers of beer were in plain sight between the front seats of the vehicle.

The driver was booked into the King County Jail on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving.

The Washington State Patrol would like to thank all thirteen 9-1-1 callers who allowed troopers to locate the vehicle and bring this incident to a safe ending.
