The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says drivers who use SR 18 near Snoqualmie/Tiger Mountain and Auburn should plan ahead for full directional closures and major detours this weekend, Oct. 3rd-4th, and then again the weekend of Oct. 17th-18th.
WSDOT maintenance crews will close all eastbound or westbound lanes of SR 18 for several hours Saturday and Sunday mornings on both weekends for paving, guardrail and tree removal work. Originally this work was scheduled for late August, but a rain storm delayed the projects.
All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
SR 18 Closure Details:
- Saturday, Oct. 3rd – Westbound SR 18 from I-90 to Issaquah-Hobart Road will be closed from 4AM to 10AM.
- Saturday, Oct. 3rd – Westbound SR 18 from SE 304th Place to SE Auburn-Black Diamond Road will be closed from 4AM to 10AM. The right lane will remain closed until 4PM.
- Sunday, Oct. 4th – Eastbound SR 18 from Issaquah-Hobart Road to I-90 will be closed from 4AM to 10AM
- Saturday, Oct. 17th – Westbound SR 18 from I-90 to Issaquah-Hobart Road will be closed from 4AM to 10AM
- Saturday, Oct. 17th – Westbound SR 18 from SE 304th to SE Auburn-Black Diamond Road will be closed from 4AM to 10AM. for tree removal work. The right lane will remain closed until 4PM.
- Sunday, Oct. 18th – Eastbound SR 18 from Issaquah-Hobart Road Southeast to I-90 will be closed from 4 to 10 a.m.
A signed detour will be in place during all closures. For westbound closures, drivers on Snoqualmie Parkway and I-90 who wish to go westbound on SR 18 will be detoured onto westbound I-90 near Snoqualmie. All traffic on westbound SR 18 in Covington will be detoured onto State Route 516.
For eastbound closures, vehicles less than 30,000 pounds will be detoured onto Issaquah-Hobart Road, Newport Way NW, NW Maple Street, SR 900 then I-90. Large vehicles must use State Route 167, Interstate 405 and I-90.
